Starting on January 12, 2005…

Aimone Art Services will be publishing
The Critique of the Week
a new online event serving artists, art professionals and art appreciators.

Once a week, Steve Aimone will present a brief written critique of a visual composition (or a pairing of compositions). He’ll talk about the purposes of the design, the processes the artist used to generate the design, the principles of arrangement that hold together the composition, and possible ways to strengthen the piece (when applicable). It’s the same kind of thoughtful and insightful critique he offered in his book, furnishes in his workshops, and offers in his Art Coaching and Critique services.

Now, you can take part in this exciting offering in one of two ways:

1. SUBSCRIBE

SUBSCRIBE to this online event. Simply sign up for our mailing list below, indicate your interest in the Critique of the Week, and receive an email link to a critique once each week. It’s that simple.

Enter in your e-mail address then click "go":

2. SUBMIT YOUR WORK

SUBMIT YOUR WORK to be the subject of a critique. Visual compositions in all media, by both professionals and students, are eligible. If selected, you’ll receive the same kind of analysis offered in our coaching and critique services, free of charge. Not only that, your work will be seen by everyone on our list, and by visitors to our site. Your critique will remain on our site indefinitely in archive form, available to viewing by our visitors. Don’t miss out! Apply today—via email or regular mail—by sending us the following:

One to three images of your work. You can send these via email in the form of jpeg images at a resolution of 72 dpi and dimensions NO LARGER than 600 x 600 pixels, or via the postal service in the form of 35 mm slides or color photographs.

A description of each work including title (if applicable), medium, image size, and the year you executed the work.

Your artist’s statement or a short statement about each work that tells us the purpose of your design and how you went about executing it.

Personal information including your name, the city and state in which you live, phone number, and your email address. If you wish, you may also include additional biographical or professional information along with this.
